MedCerts has partnered with VetBloom (an Ethos Veterinary Health company) to provide a cutting-edge online vet assistant program that not only meets the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) standards but also prepares you to be employer-ready at program completion.
Our program is broken into five Vet Assistant courses – Intro to Veterinary Assisting and Medical Terminology, Intro to Patient Care and Handling, & Medical Records, Intro to Pharmacy, Wellness & Lab/Exam Room Procedures, Intro to Surgery and Radiation Safety, and Emergency Readiness, Front Office Procedures and Client Education. You will learn from industry experts all about the animal anatomy and physiology, with a focus on dogs and cats, while gaining invaluable knowledge of medical terminology and animal diseases. Also, you will learn to care for animals in a veterinary clinic, how to sterilize medical equipment, disinfect and maintain rooms and cages and provide emergency first aid to animals that are injured or sick.
This Vet Assistant career training program prepares graduates for the National Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) examination and provides the opportunity for you to work together with potential employers through a hands-on externship experience. Upon completion of this program, students wishing to sit for the AVA exam will be required to complete a 120hr externship. VetBloom will assist students with an externship site.
Graduates of this NAVTA Approved program set themselves apart in the job market, as employers prefer to hire a vet assistant who holds the AVA designation.
